* Although there are 2 doors available, the list price is for 1 door. If you are planning on buying only 1 door, message us after the auction to let us know which door you would like. The first 3 photos show Door#1, and the last 3 photos show Door#2
* 34"x82" title is an estimate and not all doors are exactly 34"x82" . Please see exact dimensions below.
Beautiful, antique doors salvaged from an old home in Northeastern PA. The doors are made of solid Douglas Fir or pine and are painted on both sides.
Today, "pine" is known as a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
The doors have a window with clear, old glass and 3 raised panels below.
Hardware: Neither door is equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store).
* If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven Height: The height of Door#1 was unevenly cut by 3/8" at some point. The cuts were most likely made to compensate for a settling foundation or an old warped floor. We could cut the door to an even 82 1/4", cut it shorter or narrower, and we could also add wood to it to make it taller or wider to fit your opening--email us for a quote.
Condition: The doors are strong, sturdy, and in great condition. They only have nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, broken or cracked joints, or any other serious issues.
Most of the blemishes that they have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
All of the glass is also intact and in great shape with only subtle scratches.
Strip/Refinish: We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door(s) to prepare it/them for you to repaint or refinish. We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how these doors could clean up. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you
Swing: Door#1 is set up to swing into a room towards the left or away from the room towards the right. Door#2 is set up to swing in the opposite direction. We could change the swing of either door--email us for a quote.
Modification: Do you want to take both of these doors and turn them into a pair? We could modify these doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, make molding, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
