29"x95" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged Victorian Cypress Oak Wood Wooden Interior Door 5 Panels

Rare, antique,  interior  door salvaged from the historic, "Hotel Fauchere," in Milford, PA. The door is made of solid  cypress wood on one side and oak on the other. It's stained and finished on the  oak side and painted  white on the cypress side.

If you're not familiar with cypress, it's considered a soft  wood, but it's quite  durable and rot-resistant. It is very popular in the   South because it could stand up to the high humidity.

The door  has a traditional, Victorian style, 5-panel arrangement with 2 longer, vertical  panels on top; 2 shorter vertical panels on bottom; and a small, horizontal  panel in between. Notice the bold, round, applied molding around the   panels-- what great accents! You could tell the door came from upscale place  because the applied molding is on both sides of the door.

Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of  period hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay store).

Condition: Considering the door's age, it's in great condition. It  has the typical scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes that you would expect to find on an old, used door. There are 3 strips of veneer  that just need some glue to re-secure them to the door (see last 2 photos).

  There are also Someone cut out a square block from the bottom, hinge stile  corner (see last photo). I'm not sure why this was done, but we could fill it in  with solid wood--email  us for a quote.

Otherwise, there is no warp, rot, or serious breaks or cracks. Once the door is sanded for a new coat of paint, or stripped to refinish,  most of the blemishes would be removed. What remains will be covered by paint or stain, and only appear as a "character mark."

Refinish/Repaint: We  could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the doors to prepare  any of them for you to repaint or refinish. Swing: The door  was installed to swing in both directions. It had big, spring-loaded hinges  attached, and fairly large mortises (pockets or slots) were made to accommodate  the big hinges. We have the hinges in case you want to install the door to swing  to and fro, or if not, we could fill the hinge mortises with solid wood--email us for a quote.

Modification: We  could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could  make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace panels with glass,  reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small  description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
