Heavy-duty, antique door hinges made by, "National Mfg. Co." of Rockford, IL around the middle of the previous century. Each hinge is made of solid, heavy, thick steel and is bronze plated. Surprisingly, most of the bronze remains. 

At the point of salvage, all hinges were painted (see last photo). Since then, we removed the paint and cleaned the hinges to the best of our ability trying to preserve their patina.

Considering their age, the hinges are in great condition. They all have the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on old, used hinges, but there are no breaks, cracks, bends, or gouges. We greased the insides of the  knuckles before sliding the pins back in. Now, the hinges open and close  easily and most of the pins slide out with minimal effort.

There are new no hinges available today that are this well-made  and heavy-duty. Today's steel can't compare to the steel produced during the  time these hinges were made.
