Pair Antique Vintage Old Salvaged Reclaimed Victorian Cherry Wood Wooden Box Drum Doorknobs Door Knobs Rosettes Plates Brass Bases Shanks

Handsome, antique knobs salvaged from a late 1800's, Home in Wayne, PA (see last photo). The set consists of 2 wooden knobs w/brass shanks (bases), 2 round wooden plates, 1 steel spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and 6 screws to fasten the plates to the door.

All 4 knobs and plates are made of solid, cherry wood. The knobs have the box or drum shape with 3 parallel grooves running along the sides. The rosettes have tall knob collars with a groove running along the side of the collar.

The house in Wayne and all of it's contents were well-maintained over the years. As a result, these knobs are in great condition. The worst blemishes are: a vertical dent (looks like a crack in the close up photo) on one of the knobs, 2 short parallel cuts along the edge of one of the plates, and some spots and streaks of paint along the sides of the knobs and plates. Otherwise, just expect tiny nicks and light scratches.

I've been dealing with antique architecture for over 20 years and have seen hundreds of wooden knobs. Whenever I find wooden knobs, I normally just threw them in a box for walk-in customers to consider when they browse our shop. I think this is the first set I have ever listed online, and the main reason I decided to list it is its condition. The wooden sets we find on doors are either completely painted or badly damaged in some way. Since wood is significantly weaker than metal, it's rare for a set to survive so well after 100+ years of use.
