Vintage Holy Virgin Mary Sweet Kiss "Glykophilousa" with Jesus Icon Art Plaque Greek Orthodox Christian Church Home Décor

This listing is for a wall hanging icon. The icon image is high quality print byzantine style mounted on wooden base. It is the representation from the Cretan School of the 17th Century shows very pronounced characteristics of the Virgin Mother. Glykophylousa The Panagia Glykophilousa, "Sweet-kissing" or "Loving Kindness" icon depicts the Virgin Mary caressing her son, so that they appear to be kissing. In the Byzantine representations, the Child caresses her cheek while she appears sad, seemingly contemplating his coming Passion.
This icon was purchased from The Holy Monastery of the Theotokos located in Dunlap, California and it was made by St. Isaac of Syria Skete, a monastic community for men located in Boscobel, Wisconsin. Back has a recessed hole for wall hanging.

The size of the icon: 7 3/4 “H x-5 ¾’’ W x 1” Depth.
