1.5" Backset Antique Vintage Old Art Deco Reclaimed Salvaged Brass Steel Interior Door Lockset Knob Plate Lock

Rare, antique, door lockset salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The set consists of 1 glass knob w/steel shank or base, 1 steel lever, 2 stamped steel escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews, and all 8 original installation screws. All steel parts were originally brass plated, but some plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed look.
 

The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door.

We removed the set from a handsome pair of French doors (see last photo). They were unpainted so all of the parts of this set are not painted. However, they have plenty of patina (tarnish) which only enhances the beauty of the brass and the Art Deco design. If you prefer a bright, shiny, newer look, the parts could be cleaned and polished to a brilliant shine with some Brasso and #0000 steel wool.

The doors and hardware were well-maintained over the years. As a result, this lockset is in great condition. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or heavy scratches.

We opened, inspected, and sprayed machine oil on and around all internal parts of the lock to facilitate its movement. Since the doors were installed inside, the internal parts of this lock are very clean and free of rust and corrosion. We included a photo of the lock opened so you could see how clean it is.

If you have a door, or pair of doors with thin stiles (vertical side rails of a door), you know just how difficult it is to find a lockset with a thin lock. Not only does this set have such a lock, but it also has matching slim plates (great for doors that have stiles less than 3"W) and an elegant, old-fashioned knob and lever combination, which adds a great, classic charm to the set. It's functionally sound and ready for another lifetime of service.
