2 available 28"x80" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged SOLID Wood Wooden Interior Closet Doors 5 Panels
*Although there are 2 doors available, the list price is for 1 door only. If you are planning on buying only 1 door please message us after the auction to let us know which door(s) you'd like. The first 4 photos show Door#1, the next 3 photos show Door#2.
* Please note that the 30"x80" in the title is just an estimate. The doors are not exactly that size. Please see "Dimensions" below.
Elegant, antique interior doors salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The doors are made of solid Douglas fir or pine. Both doors are painted on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
The doors have a Victorian style, 5-panel arrangement with 4 vertical panels divided by a small horizontal panel. The panels are raised on both sides.
Hardware: No door is equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay store).
* If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Quirks & Considerations:
Door#2 has a thin 1/8" gap (see last photo). This is not a serious issue and the door can still be installed and used for decades without the gap widening. However, we could close the gap using clamps and reinforce/secure the corners using modern glue and some dowels (wooden joints)--message us for a quote.
The width of Door#1 was unevenly cut by 1/4", and the height by 3/8". The height of Door#2 was unevenly cut by 1/4". We could cut either door to an even height/width, cut it/them narrower or shorter, or even built them up to be wider/taller--message us for a quote.
Condition: Considering the doors are at least 100 years old, they are strong, sturdy and in great condition. They only have nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, broken/cracked joints, or any other serious issues.
Most of the blemishes that they have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
Swing: Door#1 is set up to swing into a home towards the right or away from a home towards the left. Door#2 is set up to swing in the opposite direction. We can change the swing of either door--message us for a quote.
Modification: Want to use these 2 doors to make a pair? We could also modify the door(s) to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame(s), trim or add to the heights or widths, replace panels with glass, reverse the swings, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
