28"x76" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged SOLID Wood Wooden Interior Closet Doors 5 Panels
28"x76" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged SOLID Wood Wooden Interior Closet Doors 5 Panels
Elegant, antique interior door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is made of solid Douglas fir or pine and is painted on both sides. The door has 5 stacked, recessed (flat) panels.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out the "Hardware" section of our store).
* If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Condition: Considering that the door is at least 100 years old, it is strong, sturdy and in great condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, broken/cracked joints, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
Swing: The hinge mortises span the thickness of door, which allows you to install your hinges on either side of the door and define the way it swings.
Modification: Do you want to replace any of the wooden panels with glass? Do you need a door taller/shorter or wider/narrower? Do you want to change the swing or just plug the hardware holes with solid wood so that you could install your own hardware? Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
