Handsome, antique, exterior door salvaged from an old, 1889 home in Northeastern, PA (see last photo). The door is made of solid Douglas fir or pine and is painted brown on both sides. It was one of the side doors of the home

When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft   wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the   same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant  qualities that  old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years  old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.

The door has a single, full-length window with thick, old, plate glass.

Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out the "Hardware" section of our store).

Condition: Considering the door is well over 100 years old, it is strong, sturdy and  in great condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no broken or cracked joints, gouges, rot, warp or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".

All of the glass is also intact and in great shape with only subtle scratches

Swing: The hinge mortises span the thickness of the door, allowing you define it's swing and install hinges on either side.

Modification: We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could trim or add to the height or width, replace glass, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
