Lovely, distressed, antique window salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The frame is made of either solid pine or Douglas Fir and features a beautiful, Mission style arrangement of 9, true-divided glass lites.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
Condition: The glass is completely intact and in great shape with no flaws to report.
The caulk or glazier's putty that would normally hold the glass in place is almost completely missing. The only thing securing the glass to the frame are tiny, metal triangles known as "glazing points." These points are normally inserted into the wood, right next to the glass before applying the caulk/putty. If you plan on using the window for decorative purposes, there is no need to add caulk or putty.
The wooden frame is weather-worn, but solid and sturdy. No rot, warp, or any broken joints. The top rail was split when we found the window, but we glued it and now only a tight crack remains (see last photo).
