37"x90"x1.75" Antique Vintage Old Reclaimed Salvaged Exterior Wood Wooden French Entry Door Window Glass

Wow, what an extraordinary door! Wonderful, antique, exterior  door salvaged from an old building in Olyphant, PA. The door is made of solid Douglas Fir or pine. It's painted green  on the front and pink on the back.

When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft    wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same    insect-resistant,  rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old    pine, hewn from trees  hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much  harder and stronger than young  pine.

The door has  a lovely arrangement of 12 true-divided windows. One window is empty; one has  newer replacement glass; and ten have their  original, hand-blown, wavy glass lites. One of  the wavy lites is cracked (see 2nd to last photo). We could fill in the empty  window and replace the newer and cracked lites for $110.

All of the glass is held in place by  old-fashioned, glazier's putty instead of wooden molding. Most of the putty is  brittle and in need of replacement. We could scrape off the old putty and either  re-putty all of the windows, or make wooden molding instead--email us for a  quote.

Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of  period hardware to outfit it (check out our store)

Condition: Considering that the door is well over 100 years old, it's in great, structural  condition. It has plenty of cosmetic blemishes including worn finish, scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes--typical blemishes you would expect to find on an old, used door.  However, there is no warp, rot, or serious breaks or cracks. Once the door is sanded for a new coat of paint, or stripped to refinish,  most of the blemishes would be removed. What remains will be covered by paint or stain, and only appear a "character mark."

Except for the 1 lite that's cracked, all 10  lites are fully intact and a in great shape with only subtle scratches.

Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See  the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email  us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a  quote.

Swing: The door is set up to swing into  the home towards the right or away towards the left. However, we can modify it to swing in the  opposite direction--email us for a quote.

Modification: We  could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could  make a frame, trim or add to the height or width,  replace glass with screen,  reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small  description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
