What a rare find! Gorgeous, antique thumbturns made by, "Yale & Towne," of Stamford, CT around the turn of the previous century. Each one is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not plated steel.
These were designed for a specific lock that Yale produced, which is why there is a keyhole under the thumbturn. Although they were produced to work with a specific lock, they could work with any lock that utilizes a thumbturn. You could just ignore the keyhole.
They have a gorgeous, Neo-Classical style design, which is accentuated with a rich, original patina. Some have spots and streaks of paint.
All parts are in great shape and only have the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on 100+ year old hardware, but no breaks, cracks, chips, or gouges. All knobs rotate smoothly.
Dimensions:
Knob: 1 3/8" W x 3/4" D
Plate: 1 1/8" W x 3 5/8" H
Rods/Stems: 1/2" long and 3/16" square
