Handsome, antique, solid, oak fireplace mantel salvaged from an old farmhouse in Northeastern, Pennsylvania. It has never been painted and still retains its original, medium stain color and finish.

The mantel is embellished with lovely, Victorian style details such as the bead and reel carvings around the outer edges of the top; the fluted pilasters and 2 curved, reeded corbels adorning the legs; and the chamfered edges around the opening. Notice the small, round columns and the rail in the center above the opening which looks like a miniature, Eastlake style porch handrail--what a wonderful accent!

Condition: The mantel is in excellent condition. Expect the typical scrapes and scratches that you would normally find on a 100+ year old fireplace, but no serious flaws. The worst flaw is a small break revealing a dowel on the back side of the mantel (see last photo). Although the break looks bad, it has no affect on the structural integrity of the mantel. The mantel was built like a rock and there are no weak or loose spots what-so-ever. Once the mantel is installed, the broken portion will be up against a wall and never seen again. Even the stain and finish are in great shape. The mantel is ready for another lifetime or two of service.
