Wonderful, antique, metal cabinet salvaged from an old home in northeastern PA. It was made in 1940 by "Interstate Metal Products" out of Chicago, IL. The cabinet has a faux wood grain paint all around except at the bottom which is painted black.

There is a lock and key at the front of the piece. There is a latch on the inside of the cabinet (at the top of the left door) that has been worn from use and doesn't allow the doors to be locked tightly. Although the doors will not swing open, if you tip the cabinet the doors may open even if they're locked. If you don't need to use the lock, and just need the doors to close properly, then this won't be a problem.

Inside, there is a coat or suit rack and 2 metal bars that form a hat holder.

We were able to find the original, 1940, catalog published by the company that made the cabinet (see last photo).


Besides the lock quirk, the only "damage" on the cabinet are small scratches in the paint (see 2nd to last photo). However, most of them are on the back and sides, and the ones on the front are hardly notice-able.

We thoroughly inspected the piece and didn't need to make any repairs, nor reinforce anything. The cabinet is strong and sturdy and is ready for another lifetime of service!
