Elegant, antique, rocking chair salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. It's made of solid oak and has a upholstered fabric seat. Since the fabric looks newer, it's most likely not original. I'm guessing the chair originally had a caned seat as that was typical for a chair of this style. This chair is very old. I'm estimating 120 - 140 years old. It was most likely refinished in the past 40 - 50 years.

Our carpenter inspected the chair from top to bottom, and didn't need to make any repairs, nor needed to reinforce anything. Although there are what look to be gaps between the brackets connecting the backrest and seat (see last photo), all of the joints are tight, and there is no looseness at any point.

The chair is clean with very few nicks and light scratches. The fabric is free of rips, holes, stains, or odors. The fabric is loose on the back end. If you pull it it can come off. It simply needs to be fastened with a staple or even some glue. This chair is strong, sturdy, and ready for another lifetime of service!
