Vintage Hand Carved Wooden Wind-Up Music Box Lidded Hinged Footed Lined Large Storage Jewelry Box Signed

This sale is for a hand carved wooden, lidded storage large box/ chest for storing jewelry, trinkets, coins or keepsakes. The box is made of natural, solid wood and features intricate hand carvings on top and all 4-sided panels. The carvings include a fan-like or a sunburst motif around keyhole on the front and sides. Top displays a carved floral motif, scrolls embellishments and is connected to the box with 2 brass hinges.  Footed base shows carved scalloped edge. Box is covered with clear gloss polyurethane spray paint. There is a yellow felt lining inside. It has a brass lock, but the key is missing. Underneath is a music white metal box with a winding key in good working condition. We have done some research trying to find the name of the song playing, but we have been unsuccessful so far. It’s a beautiful melodic tune though. The music box plays well, in working condition.

This is a craftsmanship of our neighbor’s grandfather who emigrated from Poland in the 1930’s. His name was Joseph A. Dudek, lived in Edison NJ and carved the box for his granddaughter in 1980’s.

Excellent vintage condition. No cracks, breaks or chips. Some light marks on the lining, inside the box. Please see pictures.
