This sale is for a small oil painting on board of the Barbican in Warsaw Poland. It features details of the defensive walls of the Old Town, trees and people walking around. Left corner reads: 23 VI (June) 1993 Warszawa Barbican. Signed by the artist on right corner: Gabriel Mashkiwicz. The painting is set in a brown wooden frame. Wire hook on the back for wall mounting. The Warsaw Barbican is one of the last remaining relics of the extensive network of walls, fortifications, and gates that once surrounded the city. It was built in 1540 and designed by Italian Renaissance architect Jan Baptist the Venetian. Like many other Warsaw buildings, the barbican was more or less destroyed during World War II. It was rebuilt in the 1950s from 17th-century etchings. Today, it is a local hot spot for teens and artisans to sell their crafts. It is a great segue from old town to new town, and they usually have some great souvenir shops right outside the walls.
